A house, a hundred years ago — Möderndorf around 1925

First mentioned in 1331, the village of Möderndorf gathers around its old castle on the Gail — today the seat of the Gailtaler Heimatmuseum, one of the most beautiful regional museums in Carinthia.

Our farmhouse itself is about a hundred and fifty years old. This photograph captures it almost a century ago — long before it became LAROGY's Hideaway.

Look closely and you can see that the basic structure is still there: the same roofline, the same proportions, the same orientation toward the Gail. The wooden balcony has shifted, the windows have changed, and the lilac in front of the door is gone (it came back, in another corner of the garden). But the house is recognisably itself.

When we restored it, we tried to honour exactly that — the bones of an old Gailtal farmhouse, kept honest. The interior is contemporary, but the silhouette is the one this photograph shows.
